Principals Message

Wow, am I ever excited to be at McKinley Elementary School! I feel very fortunate to be a part of a school community where faculty, staff, and parents all work closely together to meet the needs of every student. We want our school to be a happy place, a caring place, and a place of learning for all.
Please let me know what I can do to help you and your child have the best experience possible at our school.
Thank you to Katie Fuhriman, our PTA president, and her amazing board members for all they do to support and enhance the learning experience for our students. I encourage all parents to become active members of our school PTA.
Here are the five goals I have set for myself this first year as principal at McKinley Elementary.

1- Notice and acknowledge the excellent work of students, parents, faculty, and staff members.
2-Establish high expectations for quality instruction and academic achievement.
3- Actively publicize and promote the positive things happening at McKinley within our community.
4- Collaborate with faculty, staff and parents to continually assess where we are, where we want to be, and how we’ll get there.
5-Always have an open door for parents, students and community members to come and visit.

2009-2010 BOX TOP COMPETITION

We will be having the Box Top Competition throughout the whole year with each month assigned to a grade and each class in that grade has all month to bring in as many Box Tops, Cream of Weber lids, Campbell’s Soup labels. At the end of the month, the class that brings in the most will get a prize. Then, at the end of the year, we will have one month that all grades can bring in what they might have collected through out the year. The grade that brings in the most Box tops/labels OVERALL will receive a prize. Here is the schedule:
October Kindergarten
November 1ST Grade
December 2nd Grade
January 3rd Grade
February 4th Grade
March 5th Grade
April ALL GRADES
The amounts collected in April will be added to the totals of that were collected earlier in the year.

PTA is “paws”itive that we need YOU!!! If you didn’t have a chance to sigh up for PTA at registration, we would love for you to join. It is only $5 for single membership and $8 for joint membership plus the PTA benefits our students tremendously in many different areas. T- SHIRT ORDERS

We have already made our order for our
t-shirts, hoodies, and jackets but if you didn’t get a chance to order and would like to, don’t worry we will be sending another order at the end of October that will be back in time for Christmas. More information will be sent home at that time.


2009-2010 CALENDAR MAGNETS
If you were not able to attend registration and you would like to buy a calendar magnet, please contact Katie Fuhriman( 257-8025). For only $1.00 you get a magnet to hang on your fridge with all of the important dates throughout the year (vacation days, bookmobile, etc) These are very handy to have so you know exactly what to plan for during the school year. GET YOURS TODAY!
